Coding websites is always fun.
Generally they're not all that hard to do.. it's just organising code and structure, more than anything.
The thing with websites though is it's all design work. Which brings us to the evils of CSS - Content Scrambling System ( it's really Cascade Style Sheets, but my version's better ;) )
CSS is both incredibly powerful, and useless at the same time. It's uselessness is attributed to the fact that no browser seems to support all of it, with IE lagging way behind.
So what do we do?
We can go back to the 'ol HTML days with tables and iframes and stuff.. web designers will shoot you for that ;) Though, to be honest, I quite happily mix tables, XHTML 1.0 and CSS together! HAH! I'm a rebel! hehe
Course mainly I've been doing site work on siteENGiNE ... my successor to stuckiePORTAL which I used pretty much everywhere for a few years. siteENGiNE is being coded in a completely different way to stuckiePORTAL. This time, it's pretty much separate from the forum system, and is just jacking into whatever functions it requires externally. stuckiePORTAL was built INTO SMF's framework. The whole experience of ripping the stuff out has been rather nasty, to be honest.. BUT it's been good for my PHP skills.
Amusingly, I've only just realised a very severe design flaw I've wrote into the engine, which'll need fixed pretty soon. Oh well, we live and learn ;)
Isn't much else for me to gibber about just now so I shall let you poor souls get off to do something more meaningful, than reading my blog.
